Using Express Server with AutoCAD Map 3D 2016

Greetings from LizardTech!  In response to some user questions that we’ve recently received asking about using Express Server in conjunction with Autodesk products, we put together a short video that shows how to add an Express Server Web Map Service (WMS) to AutoCAD Map 3D 2016. It’s a fast and easy way to bring your Express Server imagery catalogs right to your desktop, and all it takes is a few clicks of the mouse.

The video can be found on our LizardTechGeo YouTube channel, or right here.

You say you don’t have Express Server yet? Have no fear – you can still use your compressed imagery in AutoCAD Map 3D! Both MrSID Generation 3 (MG3) and JPEG2000 are supported raster formats, and can be incorporated into your GIS, Engineering, and Design projects using the FDO Provider for Raster.  Simply select the option to Add Raster Image or Surface Connection using the Data option in the Display Manager, and select the folder and source files you want to add.  The images will be added as map layers in your task pane and can be turned on/off or reordered like any other layer.

Many thanks to our users who submitted the great questions!  If you have any other questions regarding MrSID, Express Server, GeoExpress, or any of our other products, please don’t hesitate to email

Thanks Again!
